Psychedelics May Be Next Breakthrough

Psilocybin, the active ingredient found in “magic” mushrooms, or “shrooms,” they are a powerful psychedelic.
Despite being about 100 times less potent than LSD, it’s capable of altering the perception of space and time, causing visual distortions, euphoria, and mystical experiences.
Unlike marijuana, which has seen a dramatic shift both in terms of support of legalization and recognized therapeutic uses, or MDMA, which has grabbed headlines in recent years for its potential to treat PTSD, psilocybin lacks the same degree of cultural status.
And one could be forgiven for thinking of “shrooms” as nothing more than a remnant of the excess of the psychedelic 1960s.
Psilocybin has a number of potential medical benefits. Its potential indications include depression, obsessive-compulsive disorder, quitting smoking, alcohol addiction, cocaine addiction, and cancer-related or other end-of-life psychological distress.
Unpacking the hype around micro-dosing
The practice of micro-dosing, or taking a small dose of psychedelics every few days, appears to be enjoying some rising popularity. While the actual dose size can vary, most people report taking only 0.2mg – 1mg for a full dose. You might assume such a small dose probably wouldn’t have much effect, but that’s actually the idea behind micro-dosing.
People often take total doses of mushrooms specifically for the “trip” they produce, which might include hallucinations and other changes in perception, including:
enhanced senses
expanded emotional or cognitive insight
meaningful or spiritually significant experiences
So, what exactly are those benefits?
Existing research on micro-dosing primarily focuses on self-reported use and benefits, though an upcoming clinical trial may add new insight.
Participants who responded to research surveys mentioned enhanced performance and productivity as the main reasons behind their micro-dosing. Of course, “enhanced performance” can cover a lot of ground. More specific benefits include:
improved mood
a boost to creativity
increased energy
heightened concentration and focus
People also microdose with mushrooms in order to improve mental health symptoms like anxiety and depression, and yes this is what I do – it has honestly changed my life and I don’t think I would have gotten through the past 2 years if it wasn’t for my very successful experiences with guides spiritual mushroom journeys.
Everybody has an opinion but not everyone has the knowledge and the experience to contribute.
