We are feeling cautiously optimistic and you know what I say, let the lightning strike.
I've been doing a lot of thinking and I want to be even MORE happy in 2023.
I definitely think that there has been some sort of shift that has taken place and I think there are many people who are feeling cautiously optimistic about the future and you know what I say, let the lightning strike if it will. I don’t think that things can get any worse than what we have all already survived. It can only get better from here!
After doing some research, I came across Barry Kerzin, a Medical Doctor, who serves as the Dalai Lama’s personal physician throughout all of his training. He said he had learned the most through grief, training, and time, to have compassion for people and to practice a mindset of love and kindness.
Be Kind – to yourself
The way you talk to yourself matters and, can even impact how you interact with others. Challenge the harsh voice inside your head first by noticing when it's putting you down and reverse those thoughts.
Be nice to others too though
Compassion is a win-win. Helping others is actually a wonderful way to help ourselves. You can put kindness into play in 2023 in so many ways. I feel if you can genuinely help someone even if it's just by listening, then do it.
Develop an inner safe space
You can do this through meditation, mindfulness, or journaling. It's important to ask ourselves what am I thinking, what am I feeling? Just be in the moment. I have developed a new habit which is so cool, when I go on my runs or walks it is just to take everything in, what sounds I'm hearing, what smells am I smelling, and of course what colours am I seeing.
Eat "ghaar ka khaana" – good home-cooked food.
This means preparing meals at home, planning your nutrition for the week, and while you're preparing food, do it with intention and nourish your body, don’t eat for the sake of eating.
Drink Water!.....and Manifest!
I've said it so many times – water is life.
Volunteer
Instead of sitting on your phone and drowning into yet another Netflix series, help out at an NGO, animal shelter, children’s home etc.
Organize
Your space, your house, your cupboards as well as your days.
Consider your purpose instead of your goals
Goals are temporary but a purpose is more meaningful. I often ask myself these questions who am I ? What am I actually meant to be doing here?
Be in your own truth
Listen to your intuitions. I feel it's important to stay to your truth if something doesn’t feel right don’t do it. Simple.
To end off, I want to share a small part of Lizzo’s Grammy win acceptance speech…
“Anybody at home who feels misunderstood or on the outside looking in like I did, just stay true to yourself,” she said. “Because I promise you will attract people in your life who believe in you and support you”.
